If you’re staying at Hyatt Place Bodh Gaya, the 3:45 a.m. bus will drop you close enough to hit the sanctuary just as the mist lifts. A cab would shave about ten minutes off the drive, but the bus gives you a good cost time balance. Remember the waterholes are most active around 5 6 a.m., so staying a bit longer can increase your chances.

If you only have a few minutes, stop at Chandra Peak right before the turn to Tungnath the early morning light catches the ridges in a soft glow. For a sunrise shot you’ll need to start very early, about 4:30 a.m., to reach the Tungnath temple by the first light; the view over the valley is spectacular. Chandrashila takes longer, so it’s best if you have an hour or more. Do you plan to stay overnight in the area or just a quick stop?

The 45A local bus from the nearest metro station drops right at the park gates, so you can start running straight away. If you prefer a quieter run, early Saturday mornings are usually the least crowded, but an early weekday dawn between 5:30 and 6:00 am works well too. Does that fit your schedule?

The mosque stays open all night, so a late evening visit around 7 pm can give you cooler temperatures and softer light that highlights the stonework. If you’re staying at Treebo Rock Valley, you’ll be only a short drive away and can head straight there after dinner. This way you avoid the midday glare and still catch the historic details in good light. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

The best time to visit Gushaini is late spring to early autumn the river is clear and the valley is lush, but the roads are still accessible. A quick overnight stay at The Hosteller Tirthan Valley can let you catch the sunrise over the river and enjoy a relaxed walk in the park’s vicinity before heading back. If you’re pressed for time, a day detour still offers great views and a chance to stretch your legs. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re only in Porbandar for a quick stop, aim for the beach, Kirti Mandir and the bird sanctuary by sunrise, when the birds are most active. A second day lets you linger at the beach for sunset and wander the market around 4 pm, when stalls are busiest. Staying a night at The Fern Residency, just a 4 km walk from the beach, makes that evening walk hassle free.

If you’re staying at Ramee Grand Hotel, you’ll find a small parking area right outside the museum, which can save you a few minutes searching for street space. From there a 15 minute walk or a quick auto will get you to Shaniwar Wada before it closes, so you can comfortably finish the museum and still explore the fort in the afternoon. A quick tip: the Halebidu Archaeological Museum opens at 10 a.m., so after a sunrise visit to Hoysaleswara you can head straight there and then catch an auto to Belur. In Belur, the Chennakeshava Temple is only a ten minute ride away. If you’re staying near the bus stand, Sunshine International Boarding & Lodging is a short auto away and has a dhaba that serves fresh idlis and filter coffee perfect for a late afternoon break.

If you’re heading out around 4 or 5 pm, the last local bus to Hiriyur leaves close to 7 pm, so you’ll still catch the sunset over the lake. The roads are usually clear after 5 pm, and traffic is light, so the ride should be smooth. If you prefer a bit more flexibility, a shared taxi can be booked a day ahead and will drop you right at the lakeside entrance.

If you only have a few hours, try a quick paddle on the lake early in the morning when the light is soft. Afterward, walk along the perimeter lawns where you can stretch out a blanket and people watch. The pavilion offers a good spot for photos of the water and the surrounding trees. If you’re staying nearby, the Hotel Midland Yard is only a short walk from the entrance.

A good way to avoid crowds is to hit the inner courtyard around 8 am; the light is still soft and the stone carvings are highlighted without the early morning glare. After that you can head to Pushkar Lake by 10 am for a clear reflective surface, then finish the day with a sunset silhouette of the fort. Staying at The Fern Residency in Ajmer keeps the commute short and gives you a comfortable base.

The back road to Elephant Beach goes through a small forested stretch that can slow a heavy vehicle, especially after rain. If you’re driving a truck, leaving a bit later around 10 am might help keep the pace smooth.

You could also stop at Srikurmam Temple on the same day it’s only a 40 minute auto ride from Baruva, so you can still get back to the beach before dark. If you prefer a quieter base that keeps you close to the coast, staying at Sunray Village Resort, which is about 15 km from the beach, gives you easy auto links to both the lighthouse and the nearby temple.

If you’re aiming for a quieter tripod set up during sunrise, try the little riverside park just north of Dashashwamedh Ghat; it’s less crowded before the Aarti starts at 6 am. For sunset, the steps at Assi Ghat catch a soft golden glow and the crowd thins after the evening Aarti. If you’re staying nearby, Hotel Abhinav International is a short walk away. If you can stay overnight, the Courtyard Nashik is only a short walk from the ghat. That way you can head out around 6:30 am when the water is still cool and the crowds are minimal, then return before the heat builds up later in the day.
