You could also stay at The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar for a comfortable base. From there a shared jeep can drop you at the tea gardens early in the morning, and the same vehicle will take you to Chaukori and back to Pithoragarh. The early start keeps the temple crowd light and gives you extra time to explore the historic sites.

You could also take the 9:30 am or 10:30 am Delhi Metro from Gurgaon to the nearest station, then hop on the 203 bus that drops off right at the park entrance. The bus ride is roughly 30 minutes. If you’re looking for a place to stay nearby, the Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls in Bahadurgarh is a convenient option.

You might want to time your sunset shot right when the sun is just dipping behind the fort walls, about 6:30 pm. The light then gives the stone a warm rim that highlights the carvings without harsh shadows. After that, a quick stop at Ajmer Sharif Dargah around 7 pm can give you a contrasting, quieter setting before heading back to a nearby base like The Fern Residency.

If you land at Veer Savarkar International Airport you can hop on a local taxi straight to Sagarika Emporium it’s only about 3 km away and takes roughly 10 minutes. From there you can walk to the Cellular Jail in about 15 minutes. If you prefer a short break, the TSG Grand is just 400 metres from the emporium and has a quick shuttle to the airport, so you could grab a coffee before heading back. The sunrise is best around 5:45 am, just a few minutes before the equinox. If you want a quieter spot, staying at Modhera Sunrise Resort puts you only a short walk from the temple and lets you catch the light a bit earlier than from the town.

September can still be a bit humid, but the mornings are usually clear enough for good mountain views. If you’re keen on the sunrise light, leave early; otherwise you can arrive around noon and still get a peaceful prayer time before the larger crowds arrive. Do you plan to stay near the temple or in the city?
