You might want to start at the temple right after sunrise when the crowd is light, then hop on bus 12 to the ashram. From the ashram, a quick auto to Kankaria Lake takes about 10 minutes. The lake’s perimeter walk is free and the stalls open around 9 am, so you can grab inexpensive snacks before the crowds arrive. If you need a place to stay, Lemon Tree Hotel Rajkot is a budget option a few kilometres out.
