If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace you’ll be only a short walk from Kote Gate, about 15 minutes. After the shops close around 4 pm the stalls are still lively but the crowd thins, so you can still catch fresh spices and see the textiles without the midday rush. The narrow lanes near the main entrance are where most hand loom cotton and silk stalls are clustered. If you want the freshest aromas, aim for the early morning window right after sunrise.
