Betla’s caves were carved in the 1st millennium BCE, and the park’s forest was once a corridor for the ancient trade routes that linked the Chota Nagpur plateau with the plains. In contrast, Gidhni Hill’s story is more martial, tied to tribal chieftains who used the elevation as a lookout against invaders. So while both sites touch on Jharkhand’s past, Betla focuses on early habitation and commerce, whereas Gidhni highlights tribal warfare and strategic geography.
