A good rhythm is to start at Ukhimath, visit Kedarnath first, then head to Madhyamaheshwar the next day, and finish with Tungnath and Chopta in the final two days. The drive from Ukhimath to Kedarnath takes about 1.5 hrs, so you can hit the temple early and return before sunset. From Kedarnath to Madhyamaheshwar is another 1.5 hrs; plan to stay overnight near the temple and catch the early light. On day four, drive 30 km to Tungnath, the highest Shiva shrine, then spend the afternoon in Chopta, which is only 25 km away and offers great valley views. For lodging in Ukhimath, Regenta Resort Madhuganga Ukhimath is a convenient choice, close to the main gate and with good amenities for first time visitors.
