The sanctuary’s visitor centre shows a timeline of the 1984 split from the larger Mayurbhanj Reserve and explains why the 272 sq km corridor is critical for elephant migration. If you arrive at 4 pm, the ranger station is open until 8 pm and can arrange a short evening walk. Afterward you could head to Chandipur for a sunset view, then return to the sanctuary or stay at Hotel Ayush International for easy access.
