October is usually fine for a day out. The mornings stay dry and you can hit Galta Ji, the Zoo and Hawa Mahal before the heat peaks. If you need a quick recharge, the café in Jai Mahal Palace is a convenient spot. A short walk of about five kilometres between the sites keeps the stroll manageable and you’ll still enjoy the cooler evenings.

After the last cable car ride you can still walk up to the viewpoint; the path is clear and the lights at the top give a nice evening view. If you’re craving more Himachali food, try a quick tea stall snack on the way back to Manali. Do you know if the Kangri café stays open past 8 pm on weekdays?

If you’re more interested in clear river views than the fair crowds, aim for early March or late October. Those months keep the confluence visible and the weather comfortable for walking.

The bridge was finished and opened in 1975, but it has seen regular maintenance upgrades since the 1990s to keep up with the heavy NH 7 traffic. If you’re staying nearby, the Clarion Hotel Dehradun is a convenient base with easy access to the bridge and a good view of the river from the lobby terrace.

You might want to swing by Treebo Lazystay Grand Patia a few kilometres out it’s close enough for a quick coffee break and a short walk to the nearby park, so you stay within the 20 km limit.

If you’re staying at the ARTILLA INN, you’ll get to Gandhi Smriti in under a minute on foot. The early morning prayer crowd is usually just a handful of locals, so 6 am should feel pretty quiet. If you’d like to see the larger crowds that arrive around 9 or 10 am, you can always hop back to the ashram after your visit.

If you’re heading from Shillong to Umiam via NH6, the quickest way is to keep straight on the highway. A short detour to the Shillong War Memorial right off the road gives a quick WWII snapshot before you hit Umiam. After the lake, a quick drive to Dholai Village shows traditional Khasi houses and a few old colonial structures. If you need a base in Shillong, Living Roof is close to the highway.

Since both beaches are close to Siprori, the main difference is the road type. The coastal NH53 to Radhanagar is a paved highway that keeps traffic light until about 8 am, so leaving right after 7 am usually gives you a straight 50 km drive. Elephant Beach’s back road is a narrower, winding path that stays clear a bit later, around 9 am, but it can slow you down through a short forested stretch. A quick refuel at Heaven Stay before you leave can also help you stay on time.

The shared jeep from Pithoragarh usually leaves around 5:30 am, which lets you beat the main crowd at the Berinag Temple and still get to the tea gardens before noon. From there the same jeep can take you to Chaukori in the late afternoon, and you’ll be back to Pithoragarh by dusk. If you need a place to stay that’s close to all these spots, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is a convenient base. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re staying at Casa De Alnena, the museum is just a half kilometre walk. After a 90 minute visit you can stroll to Benaulim Beach, then hop on a scooter for the short 3 kilometre ride to Colva. The cooler November February evenings keep the beach walk pleasant, and you’ll still have time for a light dinner at Casa De Alnena.

A quick tweak is to start at the airport, drop your bags at the Capital O Siddartha Grand, then head to Undavalli Caves. From there a short 3 km drive takes you to Prakasam Barrage, where the river view is best early afternoon. Finish by climbing Indrakeeladri Hill to catch the sunset over the city. This order keeps traffic light and lets you enjoy each spot without rush.

If you’re only there for a few hours, try catching a weekday afternoon match most games run from 4 pm to 8 pm. If you want a quick walk after the stadium, the Sector 42 market is a short stroll away and has plenty of street food stalls. For a quick coffee break you could pop into Foxtrail Sector 42 AM Hotel Kollection, which is only about 22 km from the stadium. Does anyone know if the stadium offers any short guided tours during the day?

You could also hop on the local “Solan Brewery” mini bus that departs every half hour; it stops right at the temple gate. On fair days the stretch near the brewery can get a bit crowded, but the schedule stays the same. If you need a place to stay, Montclair Ananta Elite Solan is just 1.6 km from the temple.
