Since the festival is in late March, you’ll want to arrive early in the week. If you fly into Chandigarh International, a taxi to the railway station and then a 1 hour train to Rupnagar is the fastest. From the station a shared auto takes about ten minutes to the gurdwara complex. Staying at Hotel Sarai Bharatgarh keeps you only 11 km from the town centre, so you can easily attend the morning prayers and the evening processions. If you prefer a quieter base, staying in Chandigarh and taking the train each day works, but you’ll spend more time commuting.
