If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, the walk to Kote Gate takes only about 15 minutes, so you can hit the market before the midday rush. The spice corner that faces the bazaar square is especially good for fresh cardamom, cumin and garam masala. Early morning after sunrise gives the quietest crowds and the freshest aromas.
