The main shrine’s bronze idol is a Chola era piece, but the 7 tiered gopuram that greets you on the east side was carved by Pallava artisans in the 7th century. Inside, the mandapa added by Vijayanagara kings houses the idol, and the temple’s tank, the Sri Venkateswara Sarovar, was expanded during that period. If you need a quick map of the steps, the Marasa Sarovar Premiere Tirupati lobby usually has a concise layout.
