If you have a couple of spare minutes, you can pause at the statue’s base where a small plaque gives a quick background on Shankaracharya. From there a ten minute walk takes you to the Sri Kshetra Temple’s courtyard, which is quiet and has a little pond that’s nice to glance at before you hit the road again. If you’re looking for a quick refresh, the vendors on the Tunga River banks sell fresh coconut water right next to the temple.
