You’re right, the emporium and the jail are close. If you’re short on time, a taxi from the airport takes about ten minutes, then you can walk the jail in fifteen. The TSG Grand, just 400 m from the emporium, has a quick shuttle back to the airport, so you can grab a coffee or a quick bite before heading out. That way you still have a few minutes to pick up souvenirs and see the jail.

If you’re staying near the base, Hotel Ambika International Byndoor is a convenient spot. A typical ascent from the trailhead takes about 4 5 hours, and the descent about 3 4. In the cooler months mist can linger until mid morning, so leave right after the temple to beat the fog. Pack a light jacket for the cooler evenings and a quick dry poncho just in case of an afternoon drizzle.

The best chance is still early dawn, around 4 5 am, when the mist clears and animals come out. October to February is the most reliable window because temperatures are cooler and wildlife is more active. A local bus from Bodh Gaya takes 30 40 minutes and is inexpensive, but if you want to leave right when the sanctuary opens a cab will get you there in about 20 minutes. If you’re staying near the town, the Hyatt Place Bodh Gaya sits close to the bus stop, so you can catch a bus early and still beat the crowds.
