If you’re aiming for the most active lions, head straight to the safari area right after the 10 a.m. white tiger feeding. The lions are usually alert around noon, so you’ll catch a good show then. A mid week morning, like Thursday, keeps crowds thin and the animals lively. From Chandigarh, a 1.5 hour drive via the Chandigarh Kalka road gets you there, and the Radisson Chandigarh Zirakpur is a convenient spot to stay if you need a place to relax.
