From Aluva you can take a shared taxi or a local bus that heads toward Paniyeli Poru; the ride is about 30 minutes and costs roughly ₹150. If you’re coming from the airport, a private cab is the quickest way, around 35 minutes. Once at the poru you can walk the 200 meter trail to the main waterhole, or rent a small motorbike if you want to explore the surrounding paddy fields. A short drive to Thattekad Bird Sanctuary is only 20 kilometres, so a day trip there is doable if you leave early.
