A good slot is right after the museum opens, around 8 or 9 am, when only a handful of people are inside. If you finish the exhibit by 11 am you can walk or take a short taxi to Shaniwar Wada and still be there before it closes at 5 pm. Staying at Ramee Grand Hotel puts both sites within a 15 minute drive, so you can swing between them easily.
