A good way to beat the afternoon rush is to leave early from the bus stop near the Tirupati bus depot. The 45 minute ride to the fort starts before the sun hits the hill, so you’ll be exploring the 13th century walls while it’s still cool. If you prefer a quicker hop, a cab from Tirupati Airport takes about 35 minutes and lets you avoid the bus schedule. Bring a light hat, plenty of water, and try to stick to the shaded paths near the main gate during the hottest part of the day.
