A quick early morning trip to Chitrakote is usually best. The river flow is lower, so the kids can splash safely without getting soaked too much. Pack waterproof shoes and a light jacket for the kids. After the falls you can head back to Hotel Akanksha and let them unwind in the indoor pool. Do you think the kids would enjoy a quick tea break at a nearby stall on the way back?
