A simple idea is to bring a small kite or a frisbee for the kids to play on the jetty lawn after the boat ride. They’ll get a bit of exercise and still stay close to the bird watching spots. If you’re coming from Bhubaneswar, the local bus that heads to the Puri jetty stops right at the landing point, so you can hop off and walk the short distance to the island. If you prefer a place to stay nearby, the Golden Tree in Puri offers budget rooms and is only a short walk from the jetty.
