If you’re looking for a quick spiritual stop and still want adventure, Rishikesh is the better base. The town has a bus station with frequent departures, and staying at a place like Raga On the Ganges keeps you on the Ganga, so you can paddle in the morning and hit an ashram in the evening. Devprayag has fewer lodging options and longer drive times, so it’s more of a day trip.
