Will Roghi Village be crowded in October for a family trip?

Bilal Vaidya · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

We’re planning a family trip to Roghi Village in October. I know the best time to visit includes October, but I’m worried about crowds. Will it be crowded? If so, what times or nearby spots could we visit to avoid crowds?

You’ll likely see a few visitors in October, but it’s still quieter than the peak summer months. If you want to avoid crowds, try visiting early in the morning or late afternoon; the trail to Roghi Village is less busy then. A nearby option is Jibhi the village is a short drive away and has a few guesthouses, so you could split the day between the two spots. If you need a place to stay near the trail, Hotel Kalpa in Kalpa is a solid choice with good reviews.

If you’re worried about crowds, try heading to Roghi Village right after sunrise most people arrive later. A quieter alternative nearby is the small village of Jibhi, just a short drive away, where you can explore the local market before the day gets busy. If you need a place to stay close to the trail, Hotel Kalpa Deshang in Kalpa is a good option.

If you’re going in early October, the trail can get busier around midday when most hikers hit the ridge. A good trick is to leave Kalpa around 7 am, hit Roghi by 9, and then head back to Kalpa before 3 pm. If you’d rather avoid the main path, the nearby village of Jibhi has a quieter market early in the day, and you can stay at Hotel Kalpa Deshang for a comfortable base.

If you’re heading to Roghi in early October, the best way to dodge crowds is to leave Kalpa around 6:30 am, hit the ridge by 8, and return before 3 pm. That way you’ll avoid the midday rush when most hikers arrive. You could also pause in Jibhi around 10 am for a quiet market stroll before the day gets busy. Staying at Hotel Kalpa Deshang gives you a convenient base close to the trail.

If you’re okay with a short detour, stop by the tea house in Jibhi around 11 am it’s usually less crowded and gives a nice break before the ridge gets busy.

If you’re heading out after sunrise you’ll beat most of the midday crowd. A good way to keep things quiet is to stop at the tea house in Jibhi around 11 a.m. before the ridge gets busy. From there you can head back to Kalpa and stay at Hotel Kalpa Deshang for a relaxed base. This keeps the day spread out and crowds to a minimum.

If you’re okay with a short detour, consider staying overnight at Zostel Sangla. It’s only about 23 km from Kalpa and gives you a relaxed base before heading out early to Roghi.

You’ll likely see a few people around midday in October, but the ridge is quieter early in the morning. If you want to skip the rush, aim to reach Roghi by 8 am and head back before 3 pm. A quick detour to Jibhi’s tea house around 11 am is usually calm. Staying at Hotel Kalpa gives you a comfortable base right near the trail.

The ridge trail from Kalpa to Roghi is roughly 4 km and usually takes 2 3 hours on foot. If you’re worried about crowds, you can hop on a local bus to Kalpa in the morning, then walk early to beat the midday rush.
