Which nearby spots can I hit while on a quick stop at Hanuman Temple?

Pooja Saikia · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’ll only have a few hours in Bhubaneswar and I’m planning to drop by the Hanuman Temple. It’s close to Bindu Sagar Lake (just 0.5 km away) and Lingaraj Temple is another 1.5 km away. With limited time, which of these nearby attractions would you recommend visiting?

If you only have a few hours, the Lingaraj Temple gives you a richer look at Odisha’s temple architecture. The Hanuman Temple is small and close to Bindu Sagar, so you could fit both, but the Lingaraj complex has more to explore and is a short 1.5 km walk from the lake. If you need a quick rest before heading out, the Gokul bhawan is only 0.44 km away and offers a decent break point.

If you’re short on time, the Lingaraj Temple is worth the 1.5 km walk from Bindu Sagar. It’s a full scale temple complex with a big statue and a lot to see, while the Hanuman Temple is smaller and closer to the lake. If you need a quick break before heading to Lingaraj, Gokul bhawan is just 0.44 km away and has a nice café area to rest.

If you’re short on time, a quick walk to Lingaraj Temple is worth it. The main shrine sits right next to the lake, so you can stroll from Bindu Sagar, see the massive 12 storey sanctum, and catch a glimpse of the intricate carvings before heading out. Afterward, a quick stop at Gokul bhawan for a coffee would let you rest before you leave.

If you’re racing the clock, the Lingaraj Temple is the best bet. The main shrine sits right next to Bindu Sagar, so you can walk in a few minutes, see the 12 storey sanctum and the carvings, then head back. Afterward, a quick stop at Gokul bhawan for a coffee would give you a short rest before you leave.

If you only have a few hours, you could walk from Bindu Sagar to Lingaraj in about ten minutes. The lake’s reflection of the temple’s 12 storey sanctum is a quick visual treat, and the surrounding path has a few benches where you can pause before heading to the next spot. After the temple, a short walk to Gokul bhawan gives you a chance to grab a coffee and stretch your legs before you head out.

If you’re in a hurry, you might want to know whether there’s a local auto or bus that drops you right by the Lingaraj complex, so you can skip the walk from Bindu Sagar and get straight to the main shrine.
