What’s the weather like at Auli Artificial Lake if I arrive late afternoon in October?

Paramjit Adiga · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m planning to reach Auli Artificial Lake around 4‑5 pm in October. Given that the lake is open 24 hours and the best visiting months are December to March, what temperature and weather conditions can I expect at that hour? Also, will the lake still be visible and accessible in the late afternoon?

In October the lake is still clear, but the air drops to about 10 15 °C by late afternoon. You’ll likely see some cloud cover and a brisk wind, so dress in layers. The water remains visible and the trail is accessible until dusk. If you’re staying nearby, Aaryam Resort Auli is a convenient spot to warm up after a walk.

The sunset in October around that time is usually near 5 pm, so you’ll have a few minutes of twilight after you reach the lake. The trail stays clear, but a light wind can make the water look a bit misty. If you want a quick warm spot afterward, the nearby Aaryam Resort Auli has a cozy lounge right on the trail.

Since the trail is still clear in October, you can expect the lake to be fully visible at 4 5 pm. The air will be around 10 15 °C and a mild wind may give the water a slight mist. If you want a quick warm spot afterward, staying at Satopanth The Auli Resort, only about 3 km from the lake, gives you easy access to a cozy lounge.

If you’re heading there around 4:30 pm you’ll still catch the lake before sunset, but the light will be quite low and the wind can make the water look a bit misty. The trail is usually clear, though a light drizzle can start late in the afternoon. After the walk, Aaryam Resort Auli is a convenient place to warm up and enjoy a hot drink.

If you reach around 4:30 pm, you’ll still have a few minutes of light before sunset. The trail is usually dry, but a light drizzle can start late in the afternoon, so bring a waterproof layer. After you finish, you could head to Aaryam Resort Auli for a warm drink and a view of the lake from the lodge.

The wind can pick up to about 15 km/h in the late afternoon, so a windbreaker is handy. If you’re hoping to stay a bit longer after sunset, Satopanth The Auli Resort is slightly farther out but has a higher rating and a lounge that opens a bit later than the one at Aaryam Resort.

You might want to leave a bit earlier than 4 pm so you’re not caught in the low light just before sunset. The trail to the lake is about 2 km from the main road, so you can finish the walk and still have a few minutes of daylight. If you plan to stay longer after sunset, Satopanth The Auli Resort, just under 3 km away, has a lounge that opens a bit later than Aaryam’s.

You might want to check the exact sunset time for the day you plan to visit; in October it’s usually around 5 pm, so you’ll have just a few minutes of twilight after the lake. The trail is only about 2 km from the main road, so you can finish the walk and still have a short walk back to the parking area before dark. If you’re staying overnight, Satopanth The Auli Resort is only about 3 km away and has a lounge that opens later than Aaryam’s. Are you thinking of staying the night or just a quick visit?
