Solo trip to Bannerghatta Biological Park – what activity should I try first?

Harpreet Grewal · 5 hours ago ·6 replies

I’ll be visiting Bannerghatta Biological Park in November and I’m traveling alone. The park is open 24 hours and entry is free, so I have a lot of flexibility. I’ve read about the safari ride where you can see lions, tigers and bears, as well as the butterfly enclosure with colorful species. Which of these would you recommend as the best first experience for a solo traveler? Also, what’s the easiest way to get there from the city-cab, bus or metro?

The safari ride is usually the first pick for solo visitors because you can see the big cats up close and the whole park is spread out, so you can wander a bit. From the city the quickest way is to take the Namma Metro to Kengeri and then a local bus or a short cab ride to the park. If you’re staying near the park, the Super Collection O Bannergatta Road Near Decathlon is a convenient base.

If you’re looking for a quick way to see the big cats, the safari ride usually starts the day for solo visitors. It runs for about an hour and you get a good mix of lions, tigers and bears before you head to the butterfly enclosure, which is best in the late afternoon when the light is softer. From the city, the most convenient route is the Namma Metro to Kengeri followed by a short cab or local bus ride to the park. If you need a place to stay nearby, the Super Collection O Bannergatta Road Near Decathlon is a solid option and only about seven kilometres from the entrance. If you want the most dramatic animal action, start with the safari it usually opens early and the lions and tigers are most active then. After that, head straight to the butterfly enclosure in the late afternoon when the light is softer and the butterflies are more active. From the city, the fastest route is the metro to Kengeri, then a short cab or local bus to the park. If you’re staying nearby, the Super Collection O Bannergatta Road Near Decathlon is just a few kilometres away.
