Quick food options near Andretta Pottery for a short visit?

Subhashree Borah · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m planning to drop by Andretta Pottery and Craft Society but only have a few hours. The place is open all day and entry is free. What local food spots are within a short walk, especially near the Sobha Singh Art Gallery 2 km away, that offer quick, tasty bites? Also, any local specialties you’d recommend that won’t keep me waiting too long?

A good quick bite close to the Sobha Singh Art Gallery is the small stall at the market corner where they serve freshly made khichdi with a side of pickled mango it’s light and ready in a few minutes. If you’re craving something a bit more filling, the roadside dhaba just across the road offers a spicy paneer tikka wrap that takes less than ten minutes to prepare. Both spots are within a five minute walk from the gallery and don’t wait long for service.

You might also try the small tea stall on the main road near the gallery they serve a quick “chaat” made with fresh yogurt, tamarind chutney and roasted chickpeas. It’s a local favorite and ready almost immediately. If you want a bit more substance, the roadside dhaba a block away offers a steaming bowl of “dalsom” that takes only a few minutes to prepare.

A quick option a bit farther but still walkable is the bakery café on the side street that serves freshly baked “samosa rolls” with a side of green chutney. They also have a small stall that makes “mushroom paratha” in under ten minutes. If you’re up for a short walk to the main market, the local “kathi roll” stand is famous for its spicy paneer filling and takes barely a minute to prepare.

If you’re in a hurry, try the small stall on the corner of the gallery’s main road that serves pani puri with fresh tamarind and mint. It’s ready in a couple of minutes and the sweet spicy mix is a local favorite. If you want something heartier, the nearby tea shop at WelcomHeritage Taragarh Palace offers a quick chapati with butter and a cup of hot tea, ready almost instantly.

You could also grab a quick “bhel puri” from the stall on the corner of the gallery road. It’s a crunchy mix of puffed rice, sev, chutneys, and a dash of tamarind ready in a minute and perfect for a quick snack before you head to the pottery.

Try the small stall on the gallery’s side street that sells “palampur thali” a quick mix of steaming rice, dal, a small paneer curry and a fresh cucumber raita. It’s ready in under ten minutes and tastes like the local kitchen.

If you’re looking for something a bit more filling but still quick, try the tea shop at WelcomHeritage Taragarh Palace. They serve a buttery chapati with hot tea that comes almost instantly, and it’s only a short walk from the gallery. The palace is a good spot to grab a quick bite before heading back to the pottery.

If you’re in a hurry, the tea shop inside WelcomHeritage Taragarh Palace is a great stop. They serve buttery chapatis with hot tea in under a minute, and the palace is only about seven kilometers from the gallery. The stall also offers a quick cup of local masala chai that pairs well with a bite of paneer tikka if you have a few extra minutes.

If you have a minute or two left, there’s a small stall right on the gallery’s main road that serves a quick “chole bhature” the spicy chickpea curry with a fried bread, ready in under ten minutes. It’s a local favorite and a quick way to get a filling bite before you head back to Andretta Pottery.
