Planning a Family Trip to Jampui Hills – Need Itinerary Tips

Tushar Vasishth · 1 month ago ·21 replies

I’m looking to plan a 3‑day family trip to Jampui Hills next month. I know it’s a 24‑hour open area and best visited in March–April or October–November. We’re keen on walking through the tea gardens, catching a sunrise view, and maybe spotting the Vanishing Hills. Also, we’d like to know the best transport options from Agartala and any nearby attractions we shouldn’t miss. What would a good schedule look like?

A good start is to catch the 6:00 am state bus from Agartala - it takes about 3½ hrs. Arrive around 9:30 to hit the tea garden viewpoint for sunrise. Afterward, you can walk to the nearby Kangleipak Heritage Museum before heading back.

If you’re already taking the 6 a.m. bus, consider adding a short drive with a local guide once you reach Jampui. A guided walk can show you less - known tea terraces and the spot where the Vanishing Hills appear at dawn. You could also drop by the nearby Daphri Tea Estate for a quick coffee break before heading back.

You might want to add a stop at the Neermahal Palace en route. It’s a quick detour from the main road and gives a nice cultural break before you hit the tea gardens. Also, if you arrive by the early bus, the village market opens around 8 am a good spot to grab some local snacks before the sunrise walk.

You could also stop at the Neermahal Palace on the way back it’s just off the main road and gives a quick cultural break before the tea gardens. If you prefer a more comfortable stay after the trip, the Lake Side Resort Neermahal in Agartala is a good option.

You could also catch the early 5:30 a.m. state bus from Agartala, which drops you near the Jampui entrance a little earlier than the 6 a.m. option. On the return leg, a quick stop at the nearby Baghmara Tea Estate gives a quieter tea garden walk before heading back. After the hike, staying at Lake Side Resort Neermahal offers a relaxed evening close to the hills.

You might want to leave the hills early enough to catch the sunrise at the tea garden viewpoint, then head to the nearby Baghmara Tea Estate for a quieter walk before heading back. On the return, a stop at the Neermahal Palace gives a cultural break, and staying at Lake Side Resort Neermahal afterward lets you relax close to the hills.

You might also consider a quick stop at the Baghmara Tea Estate on the return leg. It’s a quieter walk and the tea rooms offer fresh local brew. If you’re looking for a comfortable spot after the hike, the Lake Side Resort Neermahal in Agartala is only about thirteen kilometres from the hills and has a decent rating.

If you can leave a bit earlier, a quick detour to Baghmara Tea Estate on the way out gives a quieter walk and a chance to see the tea terraces from a different angle before the sunrise. On the return, a stop at the Neermahal Palace offers a quick cultural break, and ending the day at Lake Side Resort Neermahal lets you unwind close to Agartala.

If you finish the hills early, a short drive to Lake Side Resort Neermahal lets the kids unwind in a pool while you grab a quick dinner before heading back to Agartala.

You might want to bring a small picnic to the tea garden viewpoint there’s a shaded area with a basic bench but no food stalls, so packing light snacks and water is handy.

If you want to catch the sunrise earlier, the 5:30 a.m. state bus from Agartala drops you near the Jampui entrance about 15 minutes before the 6 a.m. bus. That gives you a few extra minutes to stroll through the village market and grab a quick breakfast before heading up to the tea garden viewpoint. Also, consider stopping at the Baghmara Tea Estate on the way back for a quieter walk. Would a short stay at Lake Side Resort Neermahal after the hike suit your family’s rest needs?

You might want to head straight to the Daphri Tea Estate after the sunrise walk; the mist there often clears around 7 am, giving a clear view of the Vanishing Hills. Do you need help arranging a local taxi from the estate back to Agartala?
