Late afternoon arrival – Tomb of Sheikh Firoz vs Patna Museum?

Mohit Mahadevan · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’ll be landing in Patna late in the afternoon and want to make the most of my first day. The Tomb of Sheikh Firoz is open 24 hours and free, so it seems like a good option for an evening stroll. But Patna Museum is only about 6 km away and has a richer collection of artifacts. Which spot is better to visit first when you’re arriving late? Also, does visiting Golghar afterward add any value to the evening plan?

If you’re landing late, the Tomb of Sheikh Firoz is a good first stop because it’s open 24 hours and you can stroll around the monument without worrying about closing times. After that, heading to the Patna Museum is doable, but it’s a 6 km walk and you might be tired. The Golghar is a quick addition; its view of the city at dusk is nice and it’s only a short walk from the tomb. If you prefer to stay close to your hotel, The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is only 0.6 km away, so you could walk back for dinner before heading to Golghar for a brief sunset view.

If you’re still fresh from the flight, the Tomb of Sheikh Firoz gives a relaxed walk and free entry right away. From there, a short 10 minute ride can drop you near Patna Museum so you can hit the main galleries before the museum closes. After the museum, a quick hop to Golghar lets you catch the sunset over the Ganges and the city lights an easy, scenic finish to the day.

If you’re already in the city by dusk, a quick walk to the Tomb of Sheikh Firoz lets you enjoy the monument without rush. From there, a short taxi or auto rickshaw ride takes you to Patna Museum, where you can see the key collections before it closes. After the museum, heading to Golghar gives a nice sunset view over the Ganges and the city lights a pleasant wrap up to your first day.

Since the Tomb of Sheikh Firoz is open 24 hours, it’s a safe first stop right after landing. From there you can hop on a short taxi to the Patna Museum and see the main galleries before it closes. After the museum, a quick walk to Golghar lets you catch the sunset over the Ganges a nice visual finish to your first day. If you’re staying near the city centre, The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is only about a 15 minute drive away.

If you’re still feeling energetic after the flight, a quick ride to Patna Museum lets you see the key pieces before it closes, and the Tomb of Sheikh Firoz is only a short walk from the museum so you can finish with a relaxed evening stroll. After that, heading to Golghar gives a nice sunset view over the Ganges. If you’re staying near the city centre, The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is only about a 15 minute drive, so you can drop back for dinner before the evening lights.

If you’re already out near the city centre, a quick walk from the Tomb to the Patna Museum is doable the museum closes around 5 pm, so you can hit the main galleries before it shuts. After that, head straight to Golghar for the sunset over the Ganges; the view is best after the museum lights start coming on. If you want a short break before the evening, The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is only a few minutes away. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

Since the museum closes around 5 pm, you could head straight to it after the tomb and get the key exhibits before it shuts. Then a quick ride to Golghar will let you catch the sunset and see the city lights. If you’re staying near the centre, The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is only a few minutes away.

Since the museum closes around 5 pm, you can hit it right after the tomb and still see the main galleries before dark. From the museum, a quick auto to Golghar takes about 10 minutes, so you’ll catch the sunset over the Ganges. If you want a quick break before heading back, The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is only about 0.6 km away and has a nice lounge area to unwind.

Since the museum shuts around five, arriving after that means you’ll only get a quick glimpse if you go straight there. Starting with the Tomb of Sheikh Firoz lets you settle in, and from there a short auto or taxi will drop you near the museum for a quick tour of the main galleries. After the museum, a quick ride to Golghar gives you the sunset over the Ganges it’s a nice way to finish the day. Do you know which transport mode you’ll use to hop between these spots?
