Is Tip n Top crowded when I arrive in the late afternoon?

Aniket Mahajan · 1 month ago ·21 replies

I’ll be reaching Pithoragarh around 4 pm and plan to visit Tip n Top that same day. The viewpoint is open all day and entry is free, so it seems convenient. I’ve heard it’s a popular spot for panoramic Himalayan views, but I’m worried about crowds when arriving in the late afternoon. Does anyone know if it stays busy at that time? Also, if it’s crowded, any nearby attractions like Pithoragarh Fort that I could visit instead or in addition?

Tip n Top is usually quieter after the lunch rush, so you’ll probably find a decent spot around 4 pm. If you do see a few people, the next best thing is the Pithoragarh Fort it’s only a short drive away and offers its own historic view of the valley. If you’re looking for a place to relax afterward, The Green Village Eco Resort in Jageshwar is a decent option a bit farther out.

Tip n Top usually sees a lull after the lunch crowd, so by 4 pm the visitor numbers dip. If you still spot a few people, the view is still good and you can grab a quiet spot early. The Pithoragarh Fort, only a short drive away, offers a quieter perspective of the valley and a chance to see the fort’s architecture up close. If you’re looking for a place to relax afterward, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is a decent option a bit farther out.

If you do spot a few people, you might still get a good spot early on the way up. A short walk from the main parking takes you past a small shrine that locals say offers a quieter, more intimate view. After that, the Pithoragarh Fort is just a quick drive away and gives a different angle of the valley. If you’re looking to unwind afterward, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is a pleasant option a bit farther out.

You might also want to check out the small shrine right after the parking at Tip n Top locals say it’s quieter and still gives a good view. From there a quick drive to Pithoragarh Fort gives a different angle of the valley, and the fort’s walls are open to the public so you can wander around without the crowds you’d see at the viewpoint. If you’re worried about crowds, try arriving a little earlier most people leave by 5 pm, so a 4 pm visit usually feels light. The fort itself is open until 5 pm and the walls are free to roam, giving a quieter view of the valley. Afterward, if you want a relaxed break, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is about 38 km away and a good spot to unwind.

Pithoragarh Fort stays open until 5 pm, so you can walk the walls after the viewpoint crowds have thinned. The fort’s ramparts give a different angle of the valley, and you can wander without the peak time traffic you’d see at Tip n Top.
