Is Hathi Bhata crowded in October?

Ranganath Singh · 3 weeks ago ·18 replies

Do you know how crowded Hathi Bhata gets during the peak tourist season? I heard it’s a quiet place with 24‑hour access and free entry, but I’m worried about crowds in October. We’re planning a weekend visit with my partner and want to know the best time to avoid the crowds. Also, is it busier on weekends or weekdays?

You’re right the place stays open all night and the entry is free. The trick is to get there early around 7 or 8 am and you’ll see very few people. Weekdays are noticeably quieter than weekends, so if you can swing a Tuesday or Wednesday, you’ll avoid the crowds that pile up after sunset. If you’re staying in Jaipur, a short walk from the hotel will get you there in no time.

Sunday evenings tend to be the busiest, so if you can get there before 6 a.m. you’ll avoid the crowd. If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, the walk takes about fifteen minutes, so you can time your arrival right when the lights go up.

If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, the walk to the temple is only about fifteen minutes, so you can arrive just before dusk when the lights come on. Weekends tend to see a late afternoon rush, especially Sunday, but early evening visitors are still fairly light. Plan to get there around 6 or 7 pm to beat the peak crowds.

If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, the walk takes about fifteen minutes, so you can head out around 10 a.m. on a weekday. Mid morning on Tuesdays or Wednesdays is usually the quietest slot; the evening rush starts around 5 p.m., especially on Sundays. Arriving before 10 a.m. keeps you well ahead of the bulk of the crowds.

If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, you can walk out around 4 or 5 a.m. on a weekday. That’s before the first group arrives and you’ll still catch the sunrise over the temple. Weekends, especially Sundays, see a late afternoon surge, so a mid morning slot on a Tuesday or Wednesday is usually the quietest.

If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday morning 9 am is usually the quietest slot. Saturday sees a mid afternoon swell, but Sunday evening is the peak. Do you think a 10 am start would suit your schedule, or would you prefer a later visit to catch the sunset lighting?

If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, you could aim for a late afternoon slot around 3 pm on a Tuesday. That’s before the Sunday surge and still gives you a chance to catch the evening lights without the peak crowds.

If you’re staying at Ashok Villa, it’s only a 10 minute walk to the temple. A mid morning slot on a Tuesday or Wednesday is usually the quietest, and you’ll still catch the evening lights without the Sunday rush. You might also consider leaving a bit later on a weekday if you want to avoid the early morning crowds. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re staying at Ashok Villa the walk is only about ten minutes, so you can leave right after breakfast on a Tuesday or Wednesday and beat the late afternoon rush that hits on Sunday. The crowds start to build around 4 pm on weekends, but on weekdays you’ll still find a quiet spot even in October. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace, you might try a mid morning slot on a Tuesday or Wednesday. The crowd usually starts to build around 4 pm on weekends, so arriving before then lets you enjoy the evening lights without the Sunday rush. Also, the temple is often less busy right after sunrise, so an early 5 am walk can give you a quiet view of the sunrise over the monument.

If you’re staying at Ashok Villa, the walk is only about ten minutes. A mid morning slot on a Tuesday or Wednesday keeps the place almost empty, and you still catch the evening lights without the Sunday rush.
