How long should I spend at Fateh Burj on a quick visit in September?

Aarav Phadke · 1 month ago ·21 replies

I’m planning a quick stop in Mohali this September and Fateh Burj is on my list. The tower is 328 feet tall and open 24 hours with free entry, so I’m thinking of a short evening visit for the light show. Do people usually spend an hour or so there, or is it better to go earlier for the panoramic views? Also, are there any nearby spots like a park or local market that are worth a quick walk?

If you’re aiming for the light show, give yourself about an hour to see the tower and then walk down to the nearby Sukhdev Park. It’s a small green space where locals grab tea and you can spot some street stalls selling snacks. The park is close to the tower so you won’t lose time walking. If you prefer the panoramic view, just step up earlier in the evening and you’ll have a clear view of the city lights. Both options fit nicely into a quick stop.

You could also head to the nearby Mohali Market after the tower. It’s a small street market where vendors sell local snacks and clothes, and it’s only a five minute walk from the tower. If you’re staying at the Clubhouse Hotel Chandigarh Mohali, you’ll find the market within a short drive. This way you get the view, the light show, and a quick taste of local life all in one evening.

After the light show, the Sukhdev Park is right next door a small green spot where locals unwind, and you’ll find a few stalls with local snacks. If you’re only there for the light show, the tower lights up around 9 pm and stays on until midnight. A 45 minute walk to Sukhdev Park after the show gives a relaxed end to the evening. If you want the best city view, head up about an hour earlier; the sky is clearer and you can catch the sunrise over the city the next morning. The market near the tower is a quick five minute stroll, so you can grab a snack and finish the night.

If you’re staying at the Clubhouse Hotel Chandigarh Mohali, you’ll find the tower a short walk away and the local market just five minutes further. A quick stop at the market after the light show lets you try the street snacks before heading back. If you’re short on time, the tower’s observation deck is open until midnight, so you can grab a quick panoramic view right before the show starts.

If you’re only after the light show, you can spend about 45 minutes watching it and then stroll to Sukhdev Park. The park is a short walk away and has a few food stalls where you can grab a quick bite. If you have a bit more time, heading up an hour earlier lets you catch the sunset over the city before the lights switch on.
