How can I plan a budget weekend visit to Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple?

Annette Pandya · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m looking to spend a quick weekend at the Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple and keep costs low. The temple is free to enter and open 24 hours, so I can come whenever I want, but I need to find cheap accommodation and transport. The nearest airport is Kannur International Airport, and there’s a bus stop right in Parassinikadavu. I’m wondering what affordable hotels or guesthouses are within about 10 km and how I can get there on a tight budget. Also, are there any nearby attractions that are free and worth visiting that could fit into a short itinerary?

A good budget option a bit further out is Surya Heritage Hotels in Kannur, about 8.6 km from the temple. You can catch a local bus from the Parassinikadavu stop to Kannur town and walk or take a short auto rickshaw ride to the hotel. While you’re there, the nearby Payyambalam Beach is free and offers a nice stretch of sand to relax after the temple visit.

From the Parassinikadavu bus stop, a local bus to Kannur takes about 15 minutes, and the hotel is a short auto ride away. After the temple, head to Payyambalam Beach for a free sunset walk, then grab a quick bite at the nearby Kannur Market before heading back.
