Family food options near Mahadev Ghat vs nearby temples

Paramjit Adiga · 2 hours ago ·5 replies

I’m planning a family trip to Mahadev Ghat in Chhattisgarh and wondering which food spots are better for kids. The ghat has local cuisine stalls that are free to visit and open all day, but nearby temples also have food stalls. Which would be more family‑friendly, the local cuisine near the ghat or the food at the nearby temples? Also, how easy is it to walk from the ghat to the temple food stalls?

The temple stalls are usually a bit quieter and have a few kid friendly options like plain rice, dal and a few sweet treats that are easy to handle. The ghat stalls are busier but offer a wider variety of local snacks, which might be a fun way to expose the kids to different flavors. Walking between the ghat and the nearby temples is only a few minutes about a 200 meter stroll so you can hop back and forth without tiring the little ones.

The temple stalls usually stick to milder, kid friendly fare plain rice, dal, and simple sweets so the little ones can eat without fuss. The ghat stalls offer a broader spread, including spicy local snacks that might be too intense for younger tastes. Walking between the two spots is a short, 200 meter walk, so you can sample both without tiring the kids. Do you know if the temple stalls offer any vegetarian options?
