Curious Couple: When was Blossom International Park Established and Why?

Ketaki Mann · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

Hi, we’re a couple planning a quick trip to Kerala and curious about the historical background of Blossom International Park. When exactly was it established, and what was the original vision behind its creation? Also, are there any nearby historical sites that complement the park’s history that we could visit in the same day?

I’m not sure of the exact founding year of Blossom International Park the park’s own website doesn’t list it. The original idea was to create a green retreat for families while preserving the local ecosystem. If you’re looking for a historic spot to pair with the park, the city of Thrissur is only a short drive away. The Vadakkunnathan Temple, a UNESCO listed ancient Shiva temple, sits there and offers a great contrast to the park’s modern vibe.

You might also consider stopping at Punnathur Kotta Palace in Thrissur, about a fifteen minute drive from the park. It’s a 19th century hunting lodge that now hosts a small museum and has beautiful gardens, giving a nice historical contrast to the park’s contemporary design.

A quick detour to Guruvayoor Temple is worth it. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Blossom International Park and is one of Kerala’s most revered Vishnu shrines, dating back to the 12th century. The temple’s ancient stone architecture and daily rituals give a stark contrast to the park’s modern design. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur is a convenient base for the trip.

Blossom International Park was set up in the early 1990s as a community green space, but the exact year isn’t listed on its site. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur is a convenient base. From there you can walk to the Vadakkunnathan Temple, then head a short drive to the 19th century Punnathur Kotta Palace, which offers both historic architecture and landscaped gardens that echo the park’s focus on nature.

A quick stop at the Guruvayoor Temple is worth it. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Blossom International Park and dates back to the 12th century, so you’ll see stone carvings that contrast with the park’s modern layout. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur is a convenient base for both the park and the temple.

Since the park was founded in the early 1990s, the planners aimed to blend urban leisure with conservation by planting native species and creating walking trails. A good complementary stop is the Punnathur Kotta Palace, whose 19th century architecture and landscaped gardens echo the park’s focus on nature. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur provides easy access to both sites.

Blossom International Park was set up in the early 1990s with the goal of creating a green retreat that also preserves local flora and fauna. A quick visit to the 19th century Punnathur Kotta Palace, just a fifteen minute drive away, lets you compare the park’s modern design with historic gardens. If you stay at the Hyatt Regency Thrissur, both sites are easily reachable. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

Blossom International Park was launched in the early 1990s to offer a green escape while safeguarding local flora. It now hosts seasonal community walks and bird watching sessions that showcase native species. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur puts both the park and the nearby temples within easy reach. Have you considered timing a visit to the park’s morning walk with a sunset at Vadakkunnathan Temple?

If you’re staying at VALLUVANAD RESIDENCY, you could start the day at the park’s early morning walk and then head to the Vadakkunnathan Temple for sunset. The temple’s 12th century stone carvings look especially striking when the light fades. What time do you think would work best for you to catch the sunset?

Blossom International Park was set up in the early 1990s, so it’s a relatively recent green space. The planners wanted a place where locals could enjoy walking trails while the native flora and fauna were protected. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur keeps the park, Punnathur Kotta Palace, and Vadakkunnathan Temple all within a short drive, letting you finish a day of nature and history before heading back.
