Any good food spots near the National Gallery of Modern Art for a solo visit?

Varun Tandon · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

The National Gallery of Modern Art is open all day and free to enter, so I can spend a whole afternoon exploring the collection without worrying about time. It sits right in Bangalore, just a short walk from Cubbon Park and close to places like Vidhana Soudha and Bangalore Palace. As a solo traveler, I’m looking for convenient, reasonably priced eateries nearby-maybe a café with good coffee or a local spot that offers quick bites. What are some recommended food spots around the gallery that work well for someone visiting alone?

Just a two minute walk south of the gallery is the Café 27, a small spot that serves a decent espresso and a few quick snacks like idlis and sandwiches. It’s very popular with students and gallery visitors, so you’ll find it easy to grab a bite and sit outside for a bit. If you’re looking for something a little more upscale nearby, the lobby of Vivanta Bengaluru, Residency Road has a café with a good coffee selection and a relaxed vibe.

If you’re looking for a quick bite, try the “Bangalore Coffee” stall near the gallery; they serve masala chai and crispy vada that pair well with the museum break. It’s a popular spot for solo visitors and the queue stays short.

You could also grab a quick bite at the small stall inside the gallery’s own café they serve masala chai and idlis, and it’s a quiet spot to refuel before heading back to Cubbon Park.

If you want something a bit more substantial, try the small stall on the gallery’s lawn that sells dosas and filter coffee. It’s right by the entrance, so you can grab a bite and still have a clear view of the exhibit while you sit on the benches outside.

Also, a quick question do you know of any nearby spots that serve a full vegetarian thali for a more filling lunch?
