Food options at Kunzum Pass if I arrive early morning

Aamir Kaur · 7 hours ago ·6 replies

Is there any food available at Kunzum Pass itself when I reach early in the morning? The pass sits at 4,590 m and is open all day with no entry fee, but I’m not sure if there are any dhabas or stalls on the route. If not, where would be the nearest place to grab breakfast or a quick bite after crossing the pass? I might also want to know if the nearby Chandra Taal Lake area offers any food stops for early travelers.

There isn’t a permanent dhaba right on the pass itself, but you can grab a quick bite in the small village of Kullu which is about a 30 minute drive north. The roadside stalls there serve simple tea, biscuits and some hot pakoras that are ready early in the morning. If you’re heading south, the first stop after the pass is the little tea shop near Chandra Taal Lake; it’s open from sunrise and offers tea, biscuits and a few hot snacks for early travelers.

The tea shop near Chandra Taal opens at sunrise and serves tea, biscuits and a few hot snacks. It’s the first place you’ll hit after the pass, so you can grab a quick bite before heading back to Manali.

If you head south, the tea stall at Chandra Taal opens right at sunrise and is the first place you’ll see after the pass. It’s a bit closer than the Kullu stop, so you’ll get a quick bite faster if you’re on a tight schedule.

The tea stall right next to Chandra Taal is the quickest bite after the pass it opens at sunrise and has tea, biscuits and a few pakoras. If you’re heading back north, the small village of Kullu has a roadside dhaba that opens early; you can grab a hot sandwich or a quick cup of tea there. If you plan to stay in Manali afterward, The Allure Grand Resort and Spa is a comfortable option about 50 km down the road.

The tea stall right beside Chandra Taal is the quickest spot after the pass; it opens at sunrise and offers tea, biscuits and a few pakoras. If you head north, the small dhaba in Kullu opens early as well and has hot sandwiches and tea. Do you need a recommendation for a place to stay after breakfast?

The tea stall by Chandra Taal also offers fresh momos in the morning, which many early travelers love. If you’re heading back toward Manali, the same spot sells a small selection of local cheese and buttered bread that pair well with the tea. Do you plan to stay overnight in Manali or just pass through?
