Crowds at Barehipani Falls for a solo traveller?

Trupti Bhatnagar · 2 hours ago ·5 replies

Planning a solo trek to Barehipani Falls, I’m curious about how crowded it gets during the peak season. The falls are in Simlipal National Park, open all day, and are free to visit, but I’ve heard the area gets busy in October and November. How many people typically visit the falls around that time, and is it still manageable for a solo traveller to enjoy the view? Also, would it be better to go earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds?

It’s usually a few dozen people in the mornings, but the number swells around noon and the late afternoon rush in October and November. A solo trek is still doable you’ll have plenty of space to sit and take photos, but you might feel a bit cramped around the viewing platform during peak hours. If you want the most relaxed view, aim for an early morning start. After the hike you could head to HOTEL SRI in Keonjhar for a comfortable rest before heading back.

If you head out before 6 am the trail is almost empty. By mid morning you’ll see a handful of other trekkers, and by noon the viewing platform can fill up to a few dozen people, especially in October and November. A solo trek is still fine; you’ll just have to share the platform space during peak hours. After the hike, a quick stop at HOTEL SRI in Keonjhar gives you a comfortable break before heading back.
