What’s the weather like at Ganga Lake in Arunachal Pradesh for a solo visit?

Chetan Mittal · 2 hours ago ·5 replies

I’m planning a solo trip to Ganga Lake this November and want to know what weather to expect. Is it still pleasant in the highlands during this month? Also, does the weather affect activities like boating or birdwatching? Lastly, should I bring extra layers or gear for sudden changes?

November in the Ganga Lake highlands is usually cool, with daytime highs around 15 20°C and nights dropping below 5°C. It’s still good for boating if you check that the lake hasn’t frozen, but early mornings can be misty and visibility low, so birdwatching is best after the sun rises. Pack a wind proof jacket and a light fleece for sudden drops, especially if you’ll be near the rim. If you stay at Awoo Resort they have good heating and a cozy lounge to warm up.

You’ll find that November mornings can still be foggy, which often cuts visibility for early birdwatching. As the day warms, the mist lifts and you’ll get clearer views of the alpine birds. If you’re staying at Awoo Resort, the heated lounge is a good spot to warm up after a chilly boat ride. Do you plan to bring a lightweight waterproof jacket for the lake? November mornings can be quite cool, so a lightweight waterproof jacket is handy for the lake. The lake usually stays unfrozen until early December, so you can still go boating. Birdwatching is best after the mist lifts around noon when visibility improves. If you’re staying at Awoo Resort, their heated lounge is a good spot to warm up after a chilly boat ride.

You might also consider staying at Hotel Deysal Noora if you want a bit more comfort. The mornings stay cool but the lake rarely freezes until early December, so you can still paddle. Bring a light waterproof jacket for the lake and a warmer layer for evenings, especially if you plan to hike around the rim after sunset.

If you’re staying at Awoo Resort, you’ll find the lodge’s heated lounge a great spot to warm up after an early morning boat trip. The lake usually stays unfrozen into early December, so late afternoon boating is fine. Just bring a light waterproof jacket and a fleece for the cooler evenings.
