Solo trip to Patna Planetarium: How to make the most of free, 24‑hour access?

Tanvi Sidhu · 10 hours ago ·6 replies

I’m planning a solo day out in Patna and want to hit the Planetarium. It’s open all day and entry is free for everyone, which is great. I’m not sure how to slot it into my itinerary, especially with the nearby Golghar and Bihar Museum just a couple of kilometres away. Also, what’s the best way to get there by cab or public transport, and are there any nearby hotels that are budget‑friendly for a solo traveler?

You can hop on a local auto from the Planetarium to Golghar it’s only a 5 minute ride. If you prefer a bus, route 5 stops right at the museum and the planetarium, so you can walk between the three sites in about 20 minutes. For a cheap solo stay, the Itsy Hotels Buddha Inn is just 1.5 km away and offers simple rooms that fit a tight budget. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you want to keep the day tight, head to the planetarium first thing in the morning when the sky shows the best view of the stars. After the show, you can walk to Golghar and then to the Bihar Museum the whole loop takes about 30 minutes on foot. From there, a quick auto ride will drop you back near the planetarium or you can hop on bus route 5. If you need a cheap place to stay, the Itsy Hotels Buddha Inn is just a short walk from the planetarium and offers basic rooms for solo travelers. If you’re looking for a quick ride from the planetarium to the museum, a short auto hop takes about ten minutes and you’ll avoid the bus rush. After the museum, you can loop back to the planetarium by foot just a 15 minute walk through the historic market lanes. For a solo stay, the Itsy Hotels Buddha Inn is only a 15 minute walk from the planetarium and offers basic rooms that fit a tight budget.

You could also catch the city bus that stops right at the planetarium, then hop on the next leg that goes to the museum it’s a single ticket ride and saves you a cab fare. If you prefer a walk, the stretch between the planetarium and Golghar is about 700 meters and takes fifteen minutes, giving you a quick stroll through the historic market lanes. For a budget stay, the Itsy Hotels Buddha Inn is just 150 meters away and offers simple rooms. Does anyone know if the bus schedule changes on weekends?
