Which transport is best for reaching Sikidiri and nearby historical sites?

Siddhesh Kalita · 12 hours ago ·6 replies

I’m planning a short trip to Sikidiri in Jharkhand and I want to visit the Seraikela Palace as well. The place says cab service is easily available, and the nearest train station is Tatanagar Junction while the nearest airport is Birsa Munda in Ranchi. Would it be faster to take a cab from Ranchi directly to Sikidiri and then another ride to the palace, or is it better to catch a train to Tatanagar and then a bus or cab? Also, how long does it usually take to travel from Tatanagar to Sikidiri?

If you’re already in Ranchi, a cab straight to Sikidiri would skip the train leg and save the back and forth time. From Sikidiri you can then take a local taxi to Seraikela Palace that hop is usually under 30 minutes. If you prefer the train, you’d still need a bus or cab from Tatanagar to Sikidiri, which can add another hour or so. Do you know if the palace is closer to the town centre or a bit out on the outskirts? That might help decide the best last mile option.

If you’re already at the airport, a direct cab from Ranchi to Sikidiri is usually quicker than taking the train to Tatanagar and then another ride. The drive is about 3 3.5 hours depending on traffic. From Sikidiri the palace is roughly a 30 minute taxi hop. If you’re staying near the airport, the Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi is a convenient base before heading out.

Tatanagar to Sikidiri is about 140 km and usually takes around three to three and a half hours by road, depending on traffic. If you’re staying near the airport, the Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi is a convenient base before heading out.

Tatanagar to Sikidiri is roughly 140 km and usually takes about three to three half hours by road, depending on traffic. If you’re already at the airport, a direct cab from Ranchi to Sikidiri is often quicker than taking the train to Tatanagar and then another ride. The palace is about a 30 minute taxi hop from Sikidiri, so a single long haul cab might save you a transfer. Do you know which side of the palace you’ll be visiting?

If you’re staying near the airport, the Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi is a convenient pick up point for a direct cab to Sikidiri. The drive from Ranchi to Sikidiri is roughly 140 km and usually takes three to three half hours, so you avoid the extra bus leg from Tatanagar. From Sikidiri, the palace is about a 30 minute taxi hop.
