How long should a family stay at Sweet Water Lake in Goa?

Nivedita Goel · 5 hours ago ·6 replies

We’re planning a short family trip to Goa and want to include Sweet Water Lake. The lake is free to enter and open all day, so we could spend a day there. There’s a short hike that takes about 1½‑2 hours and a sunset walk that’s similar. Would a single day be enough, or should we add a second day to explore nearby spots like Fort Aguada or Baga Beach?

Sweet Water Lake is a nice quiet spot, but the walk and the sunset can take most of the day. If you want a bit more variety, a second day lets you hit Fort Aguada early in the morning and then head to Baga Beach for a relaxed evening. If you’re staying near the lake, Treebo Rock Valley is a convenient base that’s only about fourteen kilometres away.

If you’re staying near Sweet Water Lake, Treebo Rock Valley is a convenient base. The lake’s hike and sunset walk can fill a whole day, but if you want a quick taste of Goa’s heritage, you could head to Fort Aguada early the next morning and then finish the day at Baga Beach for a sunset on the sand. This way you get a mix of nature and coastal vibe without stretching the trip too long. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re already staying at Treebo Rock Valley, you’ll find the drive to Fort Aguada takes about 30 minutes, so you could hit the fort early, then head to Baga Beach for a late afternoon swim. The sunset walk at Sweet Water Lake usually starts around 5 p.m., so you’ll have a good window to finish the lake activities before the sun dips. This way you get a full day of nature and a quick taste of the coast without needing a second day.

If you’re staying at Treebo Rock Valley, the drive to Baga Beach is about 20 minutes, so you could finish the lake hike, head straight to the beach for a late afternoon swim, and then enjoy a sunset on the sand without needing a full extra day.
