Which nearby spot is better to visit after Gandhari Amman Temple?

Naksh Malhotra · 2 days ago ·9 replies

I’m a solo traveler and planning a day around Gandhari Amman Temple. The nearest places are Subramanya Temple at 8 km, Kanaka Durga Temple at 12 km, and Undavalli Caves at 15 km. Which of these is worth the extra drive and why? Also, if I only have a few hours, is there a spot that offers a quick photo opportunity?

If you only have a few hours, the Subramanya Temple is a quick stop it’s only 8 km away and the main shrine has a striking gopuram that looks great in a photo. The Kanaka Durga Temple is a bit further, but the view of the hilltop temple over the city is worth the extra drive. If you can spare the time, the Undavalli Caves offer a unique rock cut temple setting that’s a bit farther still. For a quick photo, the temple’s outer courtyard with the marble steps is a classic shot. If you need a place to stay after, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a solid option a short distance from all three sites.

If you’re short on time, the Subramanya Temple still gives a quick shot of its big gopuram, but the Undavalli Caves are worth a detour if you have an extra hour or two. The caves sit in a quiet forest setting and the carved rock cut temples look great from the outside, especially in soft light. Afterward, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a convenient spot to relax before heading back.

If you can spare a bit more time, the Undavalli Caves are worth the extra 15 km. The rock cut temples sit in a quiet forest and the carvings look stunning from the outside, especially in the early afternoon light. For a quick photo, the Subramanya Temple’s big gopuram is still the easiest shot. Afterward, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada offers a comfortable spot to relax.

If you have a little extra time, the Kanaka Durga Temple gives a great panoramic shot of the hilltop shrine against the city skyline, which is hard to capture elsewhere. The temple’s elevation makes it a quick but striking photo spot, especially if you arrive a bit early. If you’re pressed for time, the Subramanya Temple’s gopuram is still the fastest option.

If you have a bit more time, the Kanaka Durga Temple’s hilltop position gives a quick panoramic shot of the city skyline that you can’t get from the other spots. It’s a short drive but the elevation makes for a striking photo, especially early in the morning. If you’re pressed, the Subramanya Temple’s gopuram still works as a fast, iconic frame.

If you can spare a bit more time, the Kanaka Durga Temple is worth the extra 12 km. The hilltop location gives a quick panoramic shot of the city skyline that you won’t get from the other spots. For a really quick photo, the Subramanya Temple’s gopuram still works best. Afterward, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a convenient place to relax.

If you only have a quick window, stop at Subramanya Temple for the gopuram shot. If you can add 30 45 minutes, head to Kanaka Durga Temple instead the hilltop gives a sweeping city view that’s great for a quick panoramic photo, especially early in the morning when the light is softer. The Undavalli Caves are worth the extra 15 km only if you’re willing to spend at least an hour exploring the rock cut carvings; they’re best seen in the late afternoon light.
