Family visit to Lower Ahobilam Temple-any kid‑friendly activities?

Varun Modi · 1 month ago ·21 replies

Is it suitable to take my kids to Lower Ahobilam Temple? I want to know if there are child‑friendly activities or spaces, and whether we need any special arrangements for a family visit. The temple is open 24 hours and free to enter, and the nearby Upper Ahobilam Temple is only 5 km away, which might be interesting for the little ones.

The temple grounds have a small children's play corner near the main hall, so the kids can stretch their legs. After the main visit, you can walk the short 5 km route to Upper Ahobilam, which has a larger open courtyard that’s good for a relaxed stroll. If you’re staying nearby, Hotel DR Indraaprasthaa in Nandyal is a convenient base and offers a kids’ menu at the restaurant, which can make the return trip easier.

The temple also has a small reading corner with a few books about the legends, which kids can look through while they wait. If you bring a stroller, the path from the main hall to the play corner is flat and easy to navigate. And if you’re staying in Nandyal, Hotel DR Indraaprasthaa is close enough that you can drop the kids off and pick them up after the visit.

The temple has a small stroller parking zone right next to the entrance, so you can leave the stroller there while you walk the 5 km to Upper Ahobilam. Do you know if the kids will need a snack stop along the way?

A good time to bring the kids is early morning when the crowd is lighter and the air is cooler. The temple staff usually opens the play corner around 8 am, so you can let the little ones run off before the main rituals start. If you’re staying in Nandyal, Hotel DR Indraaprasthaa is just a short drive away and its kids’ menu can be handy after the walk to Upper Ahobilam.
