Bus or taxi to Vijay Vilas Palace from Bhuj – which is better?

Karthik Deshpande · 1 week ago ·15 replies

I’m tracing the history of Rajput palaces and need to visit Vijay Vilas Palace near Mandvi. From Bhuj I can catch the Mandvi Bus Stand or hire a cab directly. Which transport option is more efficient for a history-focused trip, considering time, cost and convenience? Also, is the bus schedule frequent enough during peak tourist season?

The Mandvi bus from Bhuj usually runs every 45 minutes during peak season, with the last one around 8 pm. If you want to keep the day focused on the palace, a cab is quicker it takes about 30 minutes and you can leave right after the palace opens. A cab also lets you stop by a nearby spot like White Sands Bay Mandvi for a quick break before heading back.

The 45 minute interval is fine for a quick visit, but if you want to start right after opening and avoid waiting, a cab cuts the travel time to about 30 minutes. A cab also lets you leave when you finish, which is handy if you plan a quick stop at White Sands Bay Mandvi before heading back. If you’re on a tight timeline, the cab is usually the more efficient choice.

The last Mandvi bus from Bhuj leaves around 8 pm, so if you plan to start right after the palace opens and finish before that, a cab is the safer bet. Cab travel is roughly 30 minutes and you can leave on your own schedule, which is handy for a focused history tour. If you’re okay with waiting a bit, the 45 minute bus interval is fine, but keep an eye on the timetable for any late season changes.

If you’re aiming for a tight schedule, a cab gives you a straight 30 minute ride and lets you leave right after the palace closes. The bus runs every 45 minutes, but you might have to wait if you miss a departure. If you’re not in a rush, the bus is cheaper and still gets you there on time. Also, the bus stops near White Sands Bay Mandvi, so you could add a quick walk there before heading back. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re mainly after a quick, focused visit, the cab is still the better pick. It drops you right at the palace entrance and lets you leave as soon as the tour ends, avoiding the 45 minute bus wait. If you want a little extra stop, the cab can take you to White Sands Bay Mandvi for a quick walk before heading back. The bus schedule stays every 45 minutes in peak season, but the cab gives you the most flexibility.

If you’re only after a quick, focused walk through the palace, a cab still wins on timing because it drops you right at the gate and lets you leave as soon as the tour ends. The bus runs every 45 minutes, so you’ll likely have to wait a bit, and it stops at the main Mandvi bus stand, a short walk from White Sands Bay Mandvi if you want a quick break before heading back.

If you’re only spending a couple of hours, a cab is usually the better bet because it drops you right at the palace gates and lets you leave as soon as you finish. The bus runs every 45 minutes, so you could end up waiting up to 45 minutes if you miss a departure. If you want a quick stop at the beach after, you could head straight to White Sands Bay Mandvi from the palace and then back to Bhuj.

If you’re tight on time, a cab still gives you the quickest route straight to the palace gates. The bus does stop at the main Mandvi bus stand, only a short walk to White Sands Bay Mandvi, so you could add a quick beach break before heading back. During peak season the 45 minute interval stays consistent, but you’ll still need to plan for a possible wait.

If you’re just after a quick walk through the palace, a cab is still the fastest way to get straight to the gates and back. The bus runs every 45 minutes, so you might end up waiting a bit. If you have a little extra time, the cab can drop you right at the palace and then take you to White Sands Bay Mandvi for a quick beach break before heading back to Bhuj.

If you want a quick beach break afterward, the cab can drop you right at White Sands Bay Mandvi before heading back to Bhuj.

You can also park at the palace parking lot if you arrive by cab, which saves a few minutes of walking from the bus stand. The bus stand is only a short walk to the palace gates, so if you prefer a cheaper option, just make sure you catch a bus a few minutes before the 8 pm last departure. If you’re tight on time, the cab still wins on directness.
