Good breakfast spots near Sangameswara Temple after early morning arrival

Dipankar Bandyopadhyay · 1 week ago ·17 replies

I’ll be arriving in Kurnool early in the morning, planning to visit the Sangameswara Temple first thing. After the visit, I’m looking for a place that serves authentic Andhra breakfast and opens early. Are there any recommended eateries close to the temple that serve local dishes? Also, what would be a convenient route to get to them from the temple?

A good spot is the “Raja Kalyan” dhaba just a 200 meter walk from the temple entrance. It opens at 6 am and serves idlis, dosas, and the classic Andhra vada patties with sambar. From the temple you turn right onto the main road, walk straight until you see the dhaba on the left. It’s a quick walk and the food is authentic.

You could also try the “Brahmam” stall on the opposite side of the main road; it opens at 6 a.m. and is famous for its spicy upma and filter coffee. Walk straight from the temple for about 250 metres, then turn left onto the main road the stall will be on your right. If you prefer a sit down breakfast, the nearby The Mourya Inn offers a small breakfast corner with local dishes and opens early.

If you’re staying at The Mourya Inn, you’ll find a small breakfast corner right next to the lobby that opens early and serves traditional Andhra items like upma, idlis and filter coffee. It’s just a short walk from the temple, so you can head straight to the main road after your visit and walk back to the hotel for a quick bite. The Brahmam stall is a good choice if you want something quick and spicy. Their upma comes with a generous dose of chili and a side of fresh coconut chutney that’s a local favorite. After you finish, you can walk back to the temple in about five minutes or head to The Mourya Inn’s breakfast corner if you’d rather sit down for a longer meal.

If you’re already near the temple, The Mourya Inn’s breakfast corner is just a short walk back and opens at 6 a.m. They serve the usual idli, upma and filter coffee, and the staff often adds a local twist like a spicy coconut chutney with the upma. It’s a convenient spot if you want a sit down meal before heading out.

You might also want to check the small stall called “Raja Kalyan” on the left side of the main road; it opens at 6 a.m. and serves a quick idli upma combo with a side of fresh coconut chutney. After breakfast you can head back to the temple via the same main road it’s a straight walk of about 200 m. If you’re staying at The Mourya Inn, the breakfast corner there is only a minute’s walk from the temple and offers the same dishes plus a hot filter coffee.
