Best activity at Bojjannakonda for a quick stop?

Soham Shinde · 1 week ago ·17 replies

I’m just passing through Visakhapatnam and have a short stopover before heading back. Bojjannakonda is open all day and free to enter, so I’m wondering what single activity or spot would give me the best glimpse of the site. The rock‑cut caves and stupas look fascinating, and the panoramic views are mentioned in a few reviews. Would you suggest focusing on the caves, or is there a particular viewpoint worth visiting? Also, if I have a bit of extra time, is it worth seeing the nearby Simhachalam Temple afterward?

The best single spot is the viewpoint near the entrance of the caves it gives a sweeping view of the whole complex and the sea beyond. Walk through the rock cut tunnels first; the stupas are neat, but the panoramic angle is worth the extra few minutes. If you have a bit more time, a quick stop at Simhachalam Temple is easy to fit in; the temple’s hilltop setting offers a different kind of view and a quick cultural experience.

You could skip the deeper tunnels and just hit the main rock cut entrance. From there the small platform gives a 360 view of the caves and the Bay of Kakinada. If you have a few extra minutes, a quick walk up to Simhachalam Temple is doable and the hilltop offers a different angle of the city. After the temple, you could drop by Treebo Grand Milan for a quick rest before heading back.

A good rule of thumb is to hit the caves right after opening, before the midday crowds. Walk the main tunnel to the small platform it gives a 360 view of the Bay of Kakinada and the rock cut arches. If you have a spare hour, the Simhachalam Temple is only about 15 minutes away by local bus and offers a different, hilltop perspective. Do you prefer the sea view or the temple’s hilltop vibe?

A quick walk to the main entrance tunnel and then up to the small platform gives a 360 degree view of the caves and the Bay of Kakinada. If you have a few extra minutes, the Simhachalam Temple is only about a fifteen minute local bus ride away and offers a different hilltop perspective. If you need a place to stretch before heading back, Treebo Grand Milan is a short 3 kilometre walk from the site.

If you only have a short window, start at the main entrance tunnel, then climb to the small platform. From there you can see the full layout of the rock cut arches and a sweeping view of the Bay of Kakinada. A quick stop at Simhachalam Temple is doable if you have a bit more time, but the viewpoint at Bojjannakonda itself gives the best overall impression. If you need a place to stretch before heading back, Treebo Grand Milan is just a few kilometres away.

If you only have a few minutes, head straight to the main entrance tunnel, walk to the small platform, and you’ll see the full layout of the rock cut arches and the Bay of Kakinada. The viewpoint there is the quickest way to get a sweeping view. After that, if you have 15 20 minutes you can hop on a local bus to Simhachalam Temple the hilltop gives a different, higher angle perspective of the city. If you need a place to stretch before you leave, Treebo Grand Milan is just a short walk away. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re short on time, hit the main entrance tunnel first, then climb to the small platform for the 360 degree view of the caves and Bay of Kakinada. The viewpoint there captures the whole layout in one shot, so you get the best glimpse without wandering too deep. Afterward, a quick hop to Simhachalam Temple is easy and offers a different, hilltop angle of the city. If you need a place to stretch, Treebo Grand Milan is just a few kilometres away.

If you’re short on time, the best single spot is the small platform right after the main entrance tunnel it gives a 360 degree view of both the rock cut arches and the Bay of Kakinada. After that, you can hop on a local bus to Simhachalam Temple, which is only about a fifteen minute ride away. If you have an extra half hour, the hilltop view at Simhachalam offers a different perspective of the city, but it’s a bit further from the caves. Let me know if you’re thinking of taking photos from the platform or if you’d prefer to explore deeper into the tunnels.

If you’re short on time, grab the small platform right after the main entrance it gives a 360 degree view of the caves and the Bay of Kakinada in one glance. From there you can see the rock cut arches from above, which is a quick way to appreciate the layout without wandering deep. If you do have an extra half hour, the Simhachalam Temple is a 15 minute bus hop and its hilltop setting offers a contrasting city view that many find worth the brief trek. Afterward, if you need a quick rest before heading back, Treebo Grand Milan is just a few kilometres away and can be a convenient spot to stretch.

If you’re just in for a quick glimpse, aim for the early morning light the platform near the main entrance catches the sunrise over the Bay of Kakinada and gives a crisp view of the rock cut arches before the crowds arrive. If you have a few extra minutes, a short bus hop to Simhachalam Temple will let you compare the sea view with the hilltop city panorama. Afterward, if you need a quick break, Treebo Grand Milan is only a few kilometres away.
