Planning My First Visit to Keshgarh Fort in Anandpur Sahib?

Soham Nath · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m visiting Anandpur Sahib for the first time and want to spend some time at Keshgarh Fort. What activities or sights should I focus on while there, and are there any nearby spots worth a quick stop? I heard the fort is open 24 hours and free for all visitors. Also, what’s the best way to get there from Anandpur Sahib Railway Station?

A good spot to stop before the fort is the Gurudwara Sri Guru Ram Das Sahib right next to the railway station; it’s a quick walk and gives a nice view of the town’s layout. From the station you can take a short taxi or a local bus that heads straight to the fort it’s about a 5 minute ride. The fort’s ramparts are great for panoramic shots of the surrounding fields, and the old watchtowers still stand, so spend a bit of time exploring those. If you have time, a quick walk around the nearby Ramgarhia Bagh park offers a quiet place to rest before heading back.

You might also want to check out the small shrine inside the fort grounds that houses a bronze statue of Guru Gobind Singh it’s a quiet spot that many visitors miss. If you have a bit more time, a quick walk to the nearby Ramgarhia Bagh park gives a nice break from the fort’s stone walls. From the station, a local bus heading toward the fort will stop right at the entrance; the ride takes about five minutes and the fare is minimal.

The fort’s main gate opens early, so you can catch the sunrise over the ramparts. Inside, the watchtowers give great views of the surrounding fields, and the small shrine with the bronze Guru Gobind Singh statue is worth a pause. After the fort, a quick walk to Ramgarhia Bagh park offers a calm break. If you’re staying nearby, Hotel Sarai Bharatgarh in Rupnagar is a convenient base for the next day’s plans. A good extra stop is the small pond outside the fort’s eastern gate; it’s a quiet place to rest and you can see the sunset over the ramparts if you arrive around 5 pm.
