Budget route through Bharmour from Dharamshala to Chamba?

Paramjit Vaz · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m driving from Dharamshala to Chamba and will pass through Bharmour. The town sits at about 2,195 m and the temples are free to visit, so I can save on entry fees. I’d like a budget‑friendly route – any cheap local eateries, public transport tips or low‑cost lodging options near Bharmour? Also, is the cab service reliable for short hops?

If you’re looking for a quick bite before you hit Bharmour, the tea stall near the bus stop on the Dharamshala Chamba road serves steaming butter tea and momos at a very low price. For public transport, the state bus departs every 90 minutes from the main bus stand; it’s a good budget option and the drivers usually stick to the schedule. Cabs in the area are generally reliable for short hops, but it’s wise to confirm the fare beforehand and ask for a meter if possible.

You could try the small dhaba near the Bharmour bus stop they serve thukpa and channa at a few rupees. If you need a place to sleep that night, the Shree Guest House in Dharamshala is about a 30 km drive and offers simple rooms for under a hundred dollars. For the short hop to Bharmour, a local taxi usually charges a flat rate; just confirm it before you start.
