Will Hari Parbat be crowded in late afternoon?

Rachel Shah · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

Arriving at Hari Parbat around 4 pm, I’m wondering how the crowds will be. Will the hill be busy after the afternoon rush? Since it’s open 24 hours and has the Sharika Devi Temple, is it better to visit the temple before the evening or wait until later to avoid crowds?

If you get to Hari Parbat around four, the afternoon rush has usually already eased. The temple stays open 24 hours, so you can visit after the crowds thin out and still catch the evening light over the shrine. If you’re staying nearby, the Golden Tulip Srinagar is just a kilometre away and offers easy access to the hill.

If you’re there after the afternoon rush, the main road to the shrine usually clears up by 5 pm. The temple’s 24 hour service means you can visit any time; just be ready for a few early evening devotees. A quick walk from Golden Tulip Srinagar puts the steps to the shrine within a few minutes. If you prefer a quieter spot, waiting until after 7 pm gives the best light and fewer crowds.

If you’re coming in around 4 pm, most of the midday crowd has already left. The main road to the shrine usually clears by 5 pm, so you’ll find a calm walk from the hilltop. The temple stays open 24 hours, but the light after 7 pm is especially soft and the few evening devotees make for a quieter atmosphere. If you’re staying near the hill, the Golden Tulip Srinagar is only a kilometre away and offers easy access.

If you’re staying at Royal Pamposh Hotel, the walk up to the shrine is almost the same distance as from Golden Tulip just over a kilometre so you’ll reach the temple around the same time and can enjoy the quieter evening light.

If you’re arriving at 4 pm, most of the midday crowd has already moved on, so the main road to the shrine is usually clear by 5 pm. You’ll still see a few evening devotees, but the light after 7 pm is softer and the temple is quieter. From the Golden Tulip Srinagar the walk is only a few minutes, making it convenient to hop off the bus and enjoy a relaxed evening visit.

If you’re staying at Golden Tulip Srinagar, you’ll find a small parking lot right outside the hotel that lets you drop your bags and head up the hill without carrying too much. The walk itself is short, but the real treat is the sunset from the top the light hits the Sharika Devi Temple just before dusk, giving a soft glow that’s worth the few minutes of climb.

If you’re staying at Golden Tulip Srinagar, you can park right outside the hotel and head up the hill in just a few minutes. The walk is short, and you’ll get a good view of the Sharika Devi Temple’s dome before the evening crowd arrives, making the light on the shrine even softer.

If you’re staying at Sarovar Portico Srinagar, you’ll find the hill only a short walk away. A good tip is to head up right after the main road clears around 5 pm; the light on the Sharika Devi Temple softens as the sun sets, giving a quieter, more reflective atmosphere. You can also grab a coffee at the hotel’s terrace and watch the sunset before you go up.

If you’re staying at Sarovar Portico Srinagar, you’ll notice the hill is still fairly quiet after 5 pm. The main road usually clears, and you can catch the soft evening glow on the Sharika Devi Temple before the late night devotees arrive. A quick walk from the hotel takes only a few minutes, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the sunset without the midday bustle.
