Quick family stop at Devidhura while passing through Uttarakhand?

Sagnik Gautam · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m heading through Uttarakhand and wondering if Devidhura would be a good quick stop for my family. The town is home to the ancient Varahi Temple and hosts the unique Bagwal festival-would those be worth seeing on a short visit? Also, are there any kid‑friendly spots or easy walks nearby that we could enjoy before moving on?

If you have a couple of hours, a short walk around the Varahi Temple can be a quick cultural stop. For kids, the nearby village of Jageshwar has a small river walk that is easy and safe, and The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is just about 39 km away if you want a place to stretch your legs before heading on.

If you’re only stopping for a few hours, the Bagwal festival usually takes place in late October, so you might miss it unless you’re there then. A short stroll around the Varahi Temple grounds is easy for kids, and the nearby Jageshwar river walk is very gentle. If you have a bit more time, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is just a 40 km drive away and offers a nice place to stretch before you keep on.

If you only have a few hours, you could take the kids on a short walk up to the Varahi Temple’s steps the path is gentle and there’s a small playground nearby. After that, a quick drive to The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is about 40 km and they have a kids’ play area and a short nature trail that’s easy for families. If you’re staying longer, the resort’s garden walk is a low effort stroll that lets the kids run around while you relax.

You might also want to stop by the small market near Varahi Temple kids can try the local sweets and pick up a few hand crafted toys. If you have a bit more time, a short 30 minute walk along the riverbank in Jageshwar gives a gentle trail and a chance to spot some local wildlife. For a quick break after the walk, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is just a 40 km drive and has a kids’ play area.
