Weekend itinerary for Saklecha, Himachal Pradesh

Vikramaditya Agarwal · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m planning a weekend trip to Saklecha, which looks like a quiet spot with lush green landscapes, ancient temples and great mountain views. It’s open all day, free to enter, and I’d like to start from Shimla by cab and then explore nearby attractions such as Jogini Waterfall (30 km) and Great Himalayan National Park (50 km). How could I structure a two‑day itinerary that balances sightseeing, some meditation time, and a short visit to Kasol or Tirthan Valley? Also, what are the best accommodation options close to the village?

You could start Day 1 in the morning from Shimla, head straight to Saklecha, then spend the afternoon at Jogini Waterfall. On Day 2 take an early drive to Great Himalayan National Park, return by mid afternoon and stop at a quiet spot in Tirthan Valley for a short meditation walk. If you need a place to stay in Shimla, Hotel Springfields is a comfortable mid range option close to the city centre.

If you want a quick meditation break, the quiet ridge near the base of the Great Himalayan National Park offers a good spot just a short walk from the main trail. After the park, head to Tirthan Valley and stop at the old tea estate for a short stretch by the river. For a place to stay close to Saklecha, consider a homestay in the nearby village; they usually have simple rooms and local food, and it keeps you within walking distance of the temples.

You could spend the morning at the base of the Great Himalayan National Park, then drive to Tirthan Valley for a quick riverside meditation before heading back to Shimla. If you prefer a place to stay in the city, Hotel Combermere offers comfortable rooms and is close to the main transit points. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

You could hit Saklecha early on Day 1, then head to Jogini Waterfall around noon. In the afternoon drive to the base of Great Himalayan National Park for a short meditation walk on the ridge. On Day 2 start with a quick visit to Kasol, then finish the day at Tirthan Valley before heading back to Shimla. If you need a place to stay in Shimla, Hotel Springfields is a solid mid range option.

You might try staying a night in a homestay near Saklecha so you’re close to the temples and the waterfall trail. On Day 1, after the temple visit, head straight to Jogini Waterfall for a short walk and a quiet meditation spot by the stream. Then drive to the base of Great Himalayan National Park, spend an hour on the ridge, and return to Shimla by evening. On Day 2, start early at Kasol, do a quick trek to the stream for meditation, and finish the afternoon in Tirthan Valley before heading back.

You might try the quiet stone terrace just outside the main temple complex in Saklecha; it’s a short walk from the waterfall trail and offers a calm spot for a 20 minute sit meditation before heading to the park.
